WHAT MAKE'S A SUCESFULL ARTIST TO ME....this is just a few my idea's and not the scope of the subject...

Well too start out im gonna say this..HIP HOP IS NO THE SAME NO MORE. lol But from my basic understanding of the game now its all going viral and digital. All album sales are coming from on line retailer's. Its a plus and an advantage or it can be a negative. The plus is the obvious....the outlet media by having free access to the internet and a prime example: you tube, face book, my space and twitter just to name a few. I believe that you have to be multidimensional wtith your craft. Study the music of today's artist, dont rely on just your lyrical ability but also rely on your creativity. Lets face it i dont wanna buy EXCUSE ME down load 10 tracks and your flow and voice sounds the same on every track. I wanna listen to the artist who brings the whole package...personally i want to you sound different on each of your ten songs. How ever there are some artist who suck on stage and can't please a crowd  and then there are those who can go bananas in the booth. Lets not sound like were stuck in 99. lets sound like the future or be on time with it. (flow's-song). Artist can ghost write music and produce as well. Personally i rather write for my self and produce for my self. It just makes no sense to sell my song when i can perform it my self and receive the credentials. Thats part of art. Just imagine if Michelangelo's paintings were brought from a slave in Nigeria. That means all these years of his work being worshiped was under false ramifications. The slave may have received gold for his labor, but his talent was secondary. The slave wasn't aware to make his presence known. Therefore the artist becomes dependent on his slave writer. The slave writer should have the ability to make that art fit for him and no one else. A great deal of marketing has a lot to do with today's artist. The less talent the artist has may make up in his marketing ability. Hey look i dont wanna see diddy getting girls and endorsements and all these wild business ventures off my song lol....just imagine you on stage with him....hes rocking your song...after the show all the baddest chick's hop in his ride...while you on your way home after the show on bus car or train lol.....so basically that's my input........peace.....please comment feed back is much appreciated

BUT NOWADAYS ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY AND ALL THE SHARK'S IN THE BUSINESS.....ITS LIKE EVERY ONE WANTS THE ARTIST TO BE IN THE PALM OF THERE HAND'S......ITS A PROGRAM.....AS YOU CAN ALL SEE. THE PROGRAM IS BUILT ON A BUSINESS...EVER SINCE HIP HOP WENT CORPORATE WE WAS DONE. ALL I CAN REALLY HOPE FOR IS TO KEEP GOD ALIVE IN YOUR MUSIC. ITS LIKE THE MATRIX TO ME...WE THE ARTIST ARE IN THAT POD SLEEPING.....THEN ONE DAY WE  BECAME UN PLUGGED. IM NOT RHYMING FOR THE MONEY OR FAME...IM DOING IT FROM THE HEART NO GIMMICKS....I THINK A SUCCESSFUL ARTIST WILL BUILD SHELTER'S FOR THE HOMELESS FAMILY'S OUT HERE IN DA HOOD...KEEP BLACK MONEY IN THE COMMUNITY...I HAVE YET TO ACTUALLY SEE ON THE COVER OF XXL OR ANY MAGAZINE HOW ARTIST ARE GOING OVER TO HAITI AND HELPING OUT, OR HOW THEY TAKING THEY MILLIONS AND FEEDING THE POOR IN THEY OWN HOOD....YOU KNOW WHAT 50 GRAND CAN DO FOR HOOD FAMILIES? YO YOU CAN PUT 50 KIDS THRU COLLEGE A YEAR REAL TALK....BUT NONE THE LESS MONEY AND FAME WILL CORRUPT YOU...IF I EVER GOT JAY Z FAMOUS ..BEST BELIEVE MY FIRST 3 MILLION HIP HOP IS DONE FOR ME...THINK ABOUT IT..HOW MUCH CLOTHES JEWELRY WOMEN CAN YOU HAVE? CATS NEED BALANCE WITH SUCCESS....

Peace! This discussion can be quite subjective. Jamil I respect ya views and many of the things u said in the beginning are fact. Sha has a good points as well. To stay on the topic you mentioned. I would just say this there are three main elements that go into being successful in this biz that all the superstars and successful people have in common 1. Talent-Unltimately this will allow u to sustain over a period of time. There are infinite one hit wonders and those who have faded  due to the fact they weren't all that talented to begin with. 2. Work Ethic- really this applies to any industry. There are few artists that are willing and able to go that extra mile to make sure they are successful. As they cliche goes..No success was built over night. 3. Timing  There is a time and season for everyone and all things. Often artists fail to take advantages of opportunities that will push them to the next level. Also music is highly time sensitive. Sometimes music and styles dont resonate with the time in which its produced or released. I would add fourth and 5th: good management and general overstanding of the music business and its dynamics.

I Truly believe its what ever makes you happy...if you like to write then write, if you like to be in the spot light than be in the spot light, if you even want to do both than hey do both I know in Nyraine's Case after his Queen was killed that was when he started to become more visible and in the spot light like she always wanted him to be.
